Sods Law
// August 10th, 2007 // Not Serious
Warning, this post may disturb or horrify readers of a sensitive nature. It should probably not be read by anyone.
Yesterday I left for work at around 7ish, I looked out of this window, I saw sunshine….
I looked at the hoodie on my chair…
I remember yesterdays cycle home in the glorious sunshine, wearing my hoodie and had this conversation with myself “hum, you wore the hoodie yesterday and you sweating like a sweaty pig by the time you got home, it looks nice, you don’t need the hoodie.”
I left the hoodie, and invoked the law of the sod!!
Just as I was entering the woods I felt the occasional drip of rain, sporadic at first like a city wide version of Japanese Water torture. I sped up, a little at first the rain was light, but then the severity of the situation hit me, and I hit the gas, harder and harder I cycled trying to beat the inevitable. By the time I hit the middle of the woods it was too late, it was……raining. Not just rain, the heaviest rain I can remember in a long time. I would estimate the time from me being “a little wet” to “the most wet I could possibly have been, no possible way of retaining anymore water, shut your mouth your going to drown” at about 45secs. I tried to shelter under a tree, but they offered no shelter from this type of……rain. It was like someone was pouring buckets of water over my head.
I cycled on, the forest offered no shelter. I met some others taking solice in the trees, they shouted at me presumably ‘”stop crazy man, you can’t cycle in this there is no visibility an inch beyond your nose”. Luckily I have a long nose. I cycled on, over the bridge. At the edge of the park I found other survivors, sheltering under umbrellas at the edge of race track. I expected a warm welcome from fellow survivors, it did not happen, I had forgotten just how…….wet we were!!
I shot this video of the carnage….Just look what happened to my sandwich….
