I just wish I had realised that before reading what I have read, having had the conversations that I have had and forming the opinions that I have formed. There's nothing quite like a belief in a deterministic universe, and the necessary absence of free will, to put a real damper on things. However, I like biscuits and tea, and whether that is an example of free will or a deterministic inevitability is rather academic - I still like biscuits and tea.
