a post to pass the time

I was wondering what would happen if I started a post with no idea what i was writing about.

Read a post to pass the time

By knowing that I dont know what im writing about ive fallen at the first hurdle. Now thats overwith I have no idea what the sentence will be about. Its quite liberating. I’m free of the shackles of trying to be funny or interesting. It reminds me of when you start diaries when your a kid. I never used to get any further than stealing a notepad from my parents, writing dairy instead of diary and then leaving it around to see how long it would take for someone to read it. Usually about 10 seconds, humans are nosey creatures. Who would of thought that that little book entitles dairy would become one of 55 million blogs, 55 million other little dairies. The voyerism is more than encouraged this time though, its practically required, a blog is written to be read.

So it looks like this post is about blogs. Fair enough. So, blogs. Good huh. I remember when I was at Microsoft my friends Steve talked of his interview and how the interviewer said “so what will happen if I put steve fox into google”? Interestingly (steve’s an interesting guy) it reveals a story about a fish steve caught with 8 mice inside. If you cant get hired once you’ve caught a fish with 8 mice inside, I imagine you have to throw the towel in. They should give olympic medals for that type of achievement, sure tops brushing ice with a broom. Now of course I google everyone I meet or have ever met, anywhere, and 99% of the time they show up. Maybe thats the nature of my work, not the same for the whole population. Im not sure. Reminds me of the scene in Punch Drunk Love

“I think I need help”

“Well whats wrong with you”

“I dont really know, because Im not sure how other people are”

I also heard an interesting quote, which I cant remember, so I’ll bodge it and make my own new version, it was probably something like this:

“Everything we know is an obstacle to what we can teach”.

I imagine that what this is saying is that once we know something, we cant remember what it is like to not know it. So then it becomes hard to explain to others because we have so much tacit knowledge, its so second nature. Anyway I’m going to just end that topic now midflow. I’m off to pub, have a nice evening.

The bike thread seems to be closed, so I’ll post this here. Marvel at the skills of real cyclists, i.e., the Dutch:
